Compañia De Paso:
Un horizonte cuadrado

  • 10-11-12 November 2011: SANTIAGO DEL CHILE (CL) - Plaza Nuñoa - upon invitation of the Swiss Embassy in Chile - Thursday + Saturday at 20:30 + Friday at 22:00
  • Compañia de Paso is the result of an encounter between the famous swiss circus director Ueli Hirzel (artistic director of Château de Monthelon) and a group of chilean performers in 2005 in Santiago del Chile.

Un horizonte cuadrado is a play in permanent progress, between contemporary aerial dance and trapeze techniques. It's also the original idea of a fine structure made of 4 mats raising up to the sky. In this "square horizon", 6 characters suspended on 6 trapezes, 8 meters above the ground. Three men and three women going through all the different cycles of life, meetings, struggles, loves and entanglement, accompanied by haunting music played live by three musicians.

It's a research on aerial space, a refined work on movement and humanity above emptiness.

    PRESS REVIEWS

Their elegant bodies are light and incredibly agile. Through their choreography, they tell about life, the difficulty to live together, the daily lightness and gravity, hope and despair. They will amaze you with their physical boldness and the joy they show when flying in the air. Without any doubt, Compañia De Paso is one of the highlights of this festival. Märkische Allgemeine

They are six hanging from the same trapeze. But soon each one is alone again, like lonely bats. The group moves in perfect harmony, all together, and yet each one keeps his/her singularity. But individual desires comes after collective action, and the urge for freedom leads to more and more daring acrobatics... Compañia De Paso is brilliantly renewing themes as old as the world, until it disappears in the dark of the ceiling. Tages Anzeiger

The show is like a dream. Beauty of movements and lights, virtuose bodies that never touch the ground. Let yourself go with the flow, it's worth it. An ideal start or end for an evening out. Le Journal de Saône-et-Loire
