Escarlata Circus is a catalan company founded in 1987 by Jordi Aspa and Bet Miralta. They met and fell in love in Paris while training in different circus schools. He was a professional tamer and she was a whip expert. Since then, they've created together many shows with always quirky and funny universes.
Come on in the marvellous tiny top of "Devoris Causa"! A strange couple welcomes you with a delicious "cucurucho"... You're invited to share a surrealistic speechless "cannibalo-vegetalesque ritual", full of humour and flavours...
It's a fantastic and cruel tale and a fiesta for the five senses where knives fly in the air and vegetables have a soul and sing in a music hall. Concocted by two luminous comedians!
Escarlata Circus also has a small street show in repertoire called "Llenties i Marabu". More informations here.
And to celebrate their 25th anniversary and keep experimenting new creative ways, Escarlata Circus is currently working on a brand new show entitled "Pugilatus" (more information starting December 2011)...
"Devoris Causa" is funny, surprising and smells like cooked cabbage. It's physical theatre for fine swordsmen. Corse Matin
The decor is set into a delirium. They like to "move people's hearts". They do it with almost nothing. It's a rare and singular genre, what could be called unclassifiable. Rue du théâtre
To prepare Escarlata Circus' "Devoris Causa", there isn't 36000 recipes. For now, leave the vegetables aside. Start with two artists, catalan sauce, the kind of actors who don't need much to move you through the tiniest move or the most fleeting look. Then find a tent the size of a big pot. Put a few guests in there, starving for new circus. Why not show ogres ready to be fried? Add sharp knives and transformable forks. Then take the vegetables again. Weigh them, smell them and... chop'em! Then fry them with love... even harsh love. Eat burning hot. Ouest France
